The WMSYC is a collaborative organisation that consists of a management committee and dedicated members who provide high quality products and services to the superyacht industry. The WMSYC is an incorporated company registered within Australia.

The Whitsunday Mackay region is one of the world’s best cruising grounds and is the heart of The Great Barrier Reef. The reef contains an abundance of marine life and comprises of over 3000 individual reef systems and coral cays. The Whitsunday Mackay region offers up hundreds of picturesque tropical islands, fringed by some of the world's most beautiful, sun-soaked beaches. This famous destination is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Vision

The WMSYC's aim is to provide, and continually improve upon, the regions facilities and services for visiting superyachts, and to assist in promoting the region as a preferred world class cruising destination.

The superyacht industry

• Superyachts are luxury sailing and motor vessels of at least 24 metres in length
• As of the end of June 2009, there were 3685 yachts (greater than 30m in length) in the Global Fleet and 545 vessels currently being built or in the Global Order Book (not including confidential builds)
• 85% of the Global Fleet falls within the 50m size bracket
• Over the last decade, the fleet has increased by 87%, nearly doubling itself, with around 250 new superyachts being splashed every year
• Superyachts spend approximately 10% of the boat's value each year on running costs
• Superyachts need a diverse range of high quality products, services and support
